About Commissions

I love producing work which is personal to the individual, especially if it is to celebrate a special event, such as a significant birthday, a wedding or retirement. Whatever your reasons for commissioning a painting, it should be an enjoyable experience which results in something to be treasured for a long time. So that the process can be a smooth one, I always prefer to meet if possible to discuss your ideas and understand what you would like before producing initial sketches for you to consider. Only once you are happy with my ideas, do you need to formally commit to a contract. This removes any pressure from the process and means you only commit to a contract once you are fully happy with the ideas and what I will paint for you.

Where do I start?

• Send me an email info@melaniecambridge.com or give me a call on 07970 432348 to discuss your ideas and set up an initial meeting (free of charge within a 60 mile radius of my studio).
• I will produce at least two colour sketches based on our discussion, followed by a meeting to present my ideas and agree what you would like.
• If at this stage you decide to go ahead, then I will ask you to sign a contract and pay a deposit (20% of the total cost). If you don't like the finished painting, no need to accept it, but you will lose the deposit.
• The final outcome. You receive a personalised painting and something to treasure for a long time
• And the cost. Framed oils sized 10 x 14" start around £350 (depending upon the amount of research needed).
